Take a ride on the Christmas Train at Irvine Park Railroad

Guest post by Justine Burgess

Irvine Park is incredibly family-friendly, and Irvine Park Railroad is one of my son’s favorite stops- we HAVE to ride the train every time we visit…and we visit at least twice a month. He’s seven years old now, so that’s added up to a lot of train rides with the fabulous engineers. Know what he loves most about the train? When it’s the Christmas train! This year is a milestone- the 20th annual Christmas train- so it feels extra-special to the little guy. He can’t wait to see the train adorned with lights and garland to take its trip through an OC Parks sparkling winter wonderland. Latina Moms OC  has been invited to attend a media night, so we’re very excited.

Santa Claus at Irvine Park Railroad

The Christmas Train at Irvine Park Railroad ride takes travelers to the “North Pole”, where families can take photos with Santa while enjoying cocoa and snacks. Visitors may take their own pictures with Santa, or you may purchase a 5×7 picture taken by Irvine Park Railroad. Santa is always welcoming, and the couch is big enough for the family to all tell Santa what their wishes are this year. Please note- you MUST ride the train in order to visit Santa. Tasty food and drink items are available for sale at both the Train Station and the North Pole.

Christmas Train tickets are $12 each (free for 24 months and younger). Tickets may ONLY be purchased online through the Irvine Park Railroad website, so get your tickets early before they sell out, as they won’t be available at the park. Near the train station is Santas Village and the Christmas Tree Ranch. Activities open one hour before the Christmas train, so get there early, beat the crowds, and listen to Mrs. Santa Claus read Christmas tales to the kids. Santas Village requires activity tickets, $5 each or $60 for a book of 15. Coloring and Story time with Mrs. Claus are FREE.

It’s always been chilly when we’ve visited, so dress warmly and don’t forget to bring a camera for all those glorious photo opportunities! Have some hot cocoa while the wind nips at your nose, enjoy some cookies and popcorn, and best of all- make some family holiday memories this year at Irvine Park Railroad.

My husband and I are always looking for family friendly things to do with our 2 year old twins during the wintertime, this weather is our favorite! Their birthday theme this past July was actually of their favorite show, Thomas and Friends (thank you Pinterest for all the deco ideas!) This is the perfect opportunity to combine our love for the winter season and trains!!! 🙂
