The newly located House of Blues Anaheim is set to open to the public on February 28, 2017. House of Blues Anaheim was formerly located at Downtown Disney and the new venue is now more than twice the size and located at the Anaheim Garden Walk at 400 West Disney Way, Suite 337, Anaheim, CA.
Members of the media were invited to preview the new venue by participating in kickoff festivities that included a hard-hat tour, culinary tasting and art preview. Part of the celebration also included the placement of a massive four-ton iconic steel water tower which was lowered atop the new House of Blues Anaheim.
The facility is a 44,000 square foot facility and will feature live music in four unique entertainment spaces all under one roof. The main concert hall holds 2,200 concert goers while The Parish room holds 400 capacity. There is also a signature Restaurant & Bar, a legendary Foundation Room and a VIP Club.
My favorite room was the Parish Room because it is small and intimate and will feature local artists. It also includes an antique clock that will overlook the stage.
I really enjoyed the culinary tasting portion of the event which included their signature Southern food and drinks. Some of the featured food items included their Nashville hot fried chicken salad and voodoo shrimp. I enjoyed both of these items since I love chicken and shrimp and Southern flavors which are somewhat spicy and include Cajun seasoning.
They also served fried chicken sliders, smokehouse St. Louis ribs and Bourbon bread pudding. The chicken sliders were very tender and juicy. I also tried the Bourbon bread pudding for dessert and I liked that it was spongy, and not too sweet.
For drinks, we tasted two signature drinks that included one with a whisky mixture, and one with blue curacao. I highly enjoyed the blue curacao drink because it was fun and fruity.
The House of Blues Anaheim will also feature local art by two Southern California artists, Audrey Kawasaki and Johnny Rodriguez. They have been commissioned to paint two large-format murals specifically for the new facility. The murals have not been painted yet and right now you can see the empty wall canvases where they will be set.
The House of Blues will open on February 28th to a sold out crowd and will feature the group Social Distortion. Founded in 1992, House of Blues venues are located all throughout the United States and they are all focused on creating an intimate music hall experience. Each venue features state of the art sound and lighting technology and a one of a kind custom designed environment aimed to bring fans as close as possible to the artists. Each location features signature original folk-art combined with legendary hospitality and tantalizing cuisine. House of Blues prides itself in having good music, food and art.
In Orange County, there is only a handful of music venues so when I heard that they were opening a much bigger music hall right in the center of Orange County, I was ecstatic. Sometimes going to Los Angeles for a concert is not an option because of special circumstances so it’s nice to know that a new music hall exists that can cater to Orange County music fans looking for a place close to home.
There are many great artists scheduled to perform with notable ones such as Café Tacuba, Julieta Venegas, Wu-Tang Clan, Common, Ramon Ayala, Ozomatli and Santana to name a few. The world famous Gospel Brunch will also return on selected Sundays.
