Celebrate the Virgin of Guadalupe this month at the Bowers Museum

The Bowers Museum will celebrate the Virgin of Guadalupe this month with a great selection of public programs and family activities in conjunction with the special Virgin of Guadalupe: Images in Colonial Mexico exhibit, which features more than 60 historic pieces from the finest collections in Mexico, including the Museo de la Basilica de Guadalupe, Museo Franz Mayer and others.

On Sunday, Dec. 4, bring the whole family to the Bowers for a free Virgin of Guadalupe Family Festival from 10:30am-3:30pm, which includes a 10:45am procession from the Kidseum to the Bowers with Aztec Dancers, Ballet Folklorico, Face Painting, hot chocolate and live music from Marimba Tikal. Children under 12 enter free to the Bowers and the Virgin of Guadalupe exhibit when accompanied by a paid adult. Admission to the Virgin of Guadalupe exhibit is only $10 for Santa Ana residents every Sunday through a generous donation in memory of Dorothy Goerl and courtesy of the Lockhart Family.

On Sunday, Dec. 11 at 1:30pm, join us for a special presentation on Aztec Flower Songs and Story: The Prophetical Case for Guadalupe with Joseph Julian Gonzalez, Monique Gonzalez and Dr. Ezekiel Stear, examining new discoveries about the relationship between the apparitions of the Virgin and Aztecfloricanto.

On Monday, Dec. 12, the Bowers will be open in honor of Virgin of Guadalupe Day. Admission to the Virgen de Guadalupe exhibit will be only $10, and parking will be free all day! Entry is free for children under 12 years of age, when accompanied by a paid adult.
